Testing Locations

The written test for the LAPD is offered several times a week. The test is free and you do not need to sign up in advance. Before you go, please fill out the online Preliminary Background Application and Job Preliminary Questionnaire, and familiarize yourself with the entire testing process by reading Prepare for the LAPD Selection Process.

Effective September 15, 2012, any person appearing for a civil service test administered by the City of Los Angeles Personnel Department MUST present a valid State or Federal issued photo identification card when appearing for the test. Any candidate who does not have a valid State or Federal issued photo identification card WILL NOT be allowed to take the test.
